A large meta-analysis of mortality studies in eating disorders found a weighted annual mortality rate for anorexia nervosa of 5 per 1000 person years. Studies in other psychiatric disorders have found rates of 2.5-2.8 per 1000 in schizophrenia, 1.9-2.1 per 1000 in bipolar disorder, and 1.5-1.6 per 1000 in major depressive disorder.
